Apart from cost and rules there are other practical things like where it is and how to get there and what to do when you do. What should you have?

What to bring? Costume - ensure outer waterproof and chilly night warm cloak or the like. Likewise make sure the costume can accomodate hot weather. The events are under canvas (unless you have brought a caravan) so you will need Tent, bed and/or mat to insulate from the ground and bedding. Things for cooking, eating, washing up and washing self. Pleanty of fluid that is NOT alcohol (you can have pleanty that is but you will need non alcoholic fluids as well). Good boots. Torch. Waterproof bag to keep gear in.

If going alone or with a mate try and link up with a faction who usually have sheltered areas for common use in their campsites. Some kind of shelter like a decent gazebo is often a really good idea. A bit impractical for folk on their own so generally brought by factions. A faction, by the way, is a group of folk who are camping together and are a group in character as well.
