Information All Players Should Know

Here are the many things that ALL players need to be aware of to allow the event to run smoothly and safely.

Start-up

You begin character creation with 35 Character Points (CP). Veteran characters get an additional 5 CP for each additional festival they attended as that character. You begin with one hit point per location. You have 5 locations; Body, Left arm, Right arm, Left leg, Right leg.

General Calls

Time In: Called to start or restart play.
Time Out: Called to stop play.
Man Down: Called by anyone when a player is hurt or a dangerous situation arises. Play stops
until a referee restarts it.
Time Freeze: A call made by a ref or a player. All players should freeze, close their eyes and
hum.
Time Mark: Players should note exactly where they are and how they are positioned.
Rewind: Players should go to the last position they noted in the call of Time Mark.

Combat Calls

Single <location>: You take one point of damage to specified location.
Double <location>: You take two points of damage to specified or hit location.
Crush <location>: You must reduce magical protection and armour on that location to 0. If you
have no protection on a location, that location is reduced to 0 hit points. If this
attack hits your weapon or shield, it is destroyed.
Through: The attack goes through armour protection
X Knock back: This attack knocks you back X feet.
Hold: You cannot move your legs for 10 seconds.
Strike down: This attack knocks you down. Your back must touch the ground.
X Repel: You cannot attack the caster and move to a distance of X feet for 10 seconds.
Disarm: This causes you to release your weapon upon parrying the disarming blow
(melee) or weapons upon being targeted (spell).
Parry: Used to prevent disarm or crush melee attacks.
Resist: Used to prevent a spell attack.
Lethal: The damage cannot be regenerated.
Mass: All within 10 ft are effected by the combat calls that follow this call.

Gestures

Crossing and uncrossing near straight arms over their head:
Used to call for help. Accompanied by a call of Man Down. Someone with first
aid should be sent to the location immediately along with the organiser.
One arm in the air with open palm:
The player is not there and you should ignore them!
One arm in the air with closed fist:
The character is invisible. You cannot see them unless they choose to show themselves.

Points System

Startup Points: The number of points a player has to spend when creating a new character.
Hero Points: Points a player may earn through exceptional role playing.
Hit Points: A measure of health. They are allocated on all locations on a characters body. When a limb reaches zero it becomes useless. When the body reaches zero the character starts a 1 minute death count.
Manna: The point’s players have to cast a spell. The total a player has available is the player’s manna pool.
Will Power: The point’s players have to use abilities. The total a player has available is the player’s permanent willpower.

Damage

When in combat your character may take damage from a weapon or a spell. This damage is deducted from your magical protection, your armour protection and your hit points in that order. Magical protection when destroyed may be replaced. Armour when damaged may be repaired for you to regain protection. Hit points may be healed to get them back. When your limbs reach 0 hit points, they are useless. When you body reaches 0 hit points, you are on a death count.

Regeneration

This only pertains to characters with regeneration. If you have been dealt normal damage and have been out of combat for 1 minute, regain all hit points. Lethal damage cannot be regenerated. If your body reaches 0 hit points begin a regeneration count (60 seconds). If by the end of the regeneration count you have only been dealt normal damage, you regain all hit points. If you are dealt lethal damage during a regeneration count, begin a death count.

Death Count

If the body location reaches 0 hit points, the player falls down unconscious and starts a count of 60 seconds and will remain there until healed. If their condition is not stabilised or they are not healed within that time the character will die.

Character Death

If your character completes a death count without being healed or stabilised, your character dies. You must report to the god tent.

Safety

Pulling Blows: Before your weapon makes contact with somebody, you must pull back the weapon so that it hits as lightly as possible. This is to prevent injury
Thrusting: Thrusting and Stabbing with a weapon is strictly forbidden even if you believe your weapon has been designed to do this.
